The iconic 1041 by Koppel

The 1041 sculpture was originally made for Georg Jensen’s 50th anniversary, but was destroyed by Koppel himself shortly thereafter when he was not satisfied with the final result. The 1041 was never made again, yet it remained a hidden treasure in the Georg Jensen design archives.

“We wanted to offer something that felt like a little bigger celebration of Koppel’s work. We found the original sketch for 1041 in our design archive and decided to try to do it properly, in honor of Koppel, says Nicholas Manville, senior VP Design & Merchandise.

Koppel 1041 is a handshake from a twelve kilo heavy silver plate and polished to a silky matte finish, which was often a sign of Koppel’s silverworks. Now, as the culmination of Georg Jensen’s celebration of Koppel’s centenary year, Georg Jensen are reintroducing this standout piece for the very first time.
